Dental Implant

What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are materials placed in the jawbone to mimic the tooth root in areas where tooth loss has occurred, allowing for the placement of either fixed or removable prostheses. At Su Dent, we offer our patients the closest solution to natural teeth, both aesthetically and functionally, through dental implants.

How is a Dental Implant Procedure Done?

The dental implant process is typically completed in several stages:

Planning and Evaluation: First, our expert dentists evaluate the overall health of our patients and perform oral examinations. The suitability of the existing bone for an implant is thoroughly assessed using 3D radiographic images. The appropriate number, length, and diameter of implants for the edentulous area are determined through millimetric measurements on these radiographs, and a treatment plan is created.

Implant Placement: This is the stage where titanium screws are surgically placed into the jawbone. This procedure is generally performed under local anesthesia. A small incision is made in the gum at the implant site, and a space for the implant is prepared in the jawbone using special instruments. The implant is then placed into the prepared space, and the gum is sutured back. Depending on the condition of the tissues, this procedure can sometimes be done without lifting the gum.

Healing Process: The healing period can vary between 6 weeks and 6 months, depending on the condition of the patient's tissues. In cases where conditions allow, permanent prostheses can be placed without waiting for the healing period, using immediate loading.

Prosthesis Placement: At this stage, the most suitable material and prosthesis design to meet the patient's needs are selected, and permanent prosthetic teeth are placed on the implants that have fully integrated with the bone.

How to Determine If the Bone is Suitable for Implants?

With oral examination and radiological findings, the suitability of a patient for implant treatment can be evaluated. However, the most accurate diagnosis is made using dental tomography (3D X-ray).

Who Are Dental Implants Suitable For?

Dental implants are generally suitable for individuals who have experienced tooth loss and are in good overall health. To ensure the success of implant treatment, patients must have sufficient jawbone and healthy gums. Our dentists will evaluate your suitability for implant treatment during the initial examination and create the most appropriate treatment plan for you.
